Finding 5 Percent of a Number:
a) Move the decimal point one place to the left.
b) Divide by 2.
Example 1:
Suppose you have $24.80 and you want to know what %5 of it is:
a) $24.80 -->> $2.48 (moving the decimal point one place to the left)
b) $2.48 / 2 = $1.24
So the answer is: $1.24
Example 2:
Finding %5 of 259.7:
a) 259.7 -->> 25.97 (moving the decimal point one place to the left)
b) 25.97 / 2 = 12.985 [see the next post for "division by 2"]
